Experience and Expertise |
| My areas of expertise are centred on general physiology and biochemistry, comparative respiratory physiology and medicine, exercise and sport. I also ran a biochemistry laboratory for many years and I am competent in a range of laboratory techniques including HPLC, ELISA, spectrophotometric and fluorimetric assays. I am highly experienced in a wide range of physiological measurements. Over the course of my research I have frequently built equipment, including gas and medication delivery systems and lung function testing equipment. |
| Over the last 5 years I have been heavily involved in research and contract research in the field of exhaled breath diagnostics. I have had grants and worked for several different clients in this area and I am currently working for a company that has developed an exhaled breath collector and hydrogen peroxide biosensor based analyser for the human and equine markets. I am also a co-author on the 2005 American Thoracic Society / European Respiratory Society joint Task Force on Exhaled Breath Condensate. I regularly attend and have presented at meetings such as ATS, ERS, Royal Society of Medicine, etc and have many contacts within the human and veterinary fields. |
